About the Author
Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has challenged athletes and coaches to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is cultivating Christian principles in communities throughout the world by encouraging, equipping and empowering others to serve as examples and to make a difference. Reaching over two million people annually on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels, FCA has grown into one of the largest sports ministries. Through this shared passion for athletics and faith, lives are changed for current and future generations.

Dan Britton serves as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes' Executive Vice President of International Ministry and Training at the National Support Center in Kansas City.  He has been on FCA staff since 1991, first serving for 13 years in Virginia and most recently as the Executive V.P. of Ministry Programs. In high school and college, Dan was a standout lacrosse player.  He continued his lacrosse career by playing professional indoor lacrosse for four years with the Baltimore Thunder. He has coauthored three books, One Word That Will Change Your Life, WisdomWalks and WisdomWalks SPORTS, and he is the author and editor of eleven FCA books. He still plays and coaches lacrosse and enjoys running marathons. He and his wife Dawn reside in Overland Park, Kansas, with their three children: Kallie, Abby and Elijah.

Good short devotion for your teen boy

This was a good devotion. My 13 year old enjoys it. I just wish the stories were a bit longer and it requires you to actually take out your bible and look up the scripture.

Reagan's God and Country fills in a gap left by many of President Ronald Reagan's biographers, which often overlook, minimize, or even look down upon his strong religious convictions. Author and political campaign consultant Tom Freiling presents portions of every meaningful public address Reagan gave about God, religion, and morality. Each excerpt is a few lines to several paragraphs long, and each refers to a different facet of spirituality and personal convictions concerning tough choices. A profound and meaningful testimony of faith direct from the lips of the Great Communicator president. "If you came upon an immobile body and you yourself could not determine whether it was dead or alive, I think that you would decide to consider it alive until somebody could prove it was dead. You wouldn't get a shovel and start covering it up. And I think we should do the same thing with regard to abortion." - remark to reporter, White House press conference, January 19, 1982.

Let's hear it for the Gipper!

If you have any interest at all in Reagan, you have to read this book. This helps round out the man and his convictions. Although this is a very insightful look at Reagan's religious beliefs and how he was not afraid to share his faith with the public, I still find it hard to determine whether he was a Christian or just a deist. Either way, Reagan was a complex fellow. Just one more thing that was impressive about this great president's administration.

I've read just about every book about former President Ronald Reagan. This one is one of my favorites. It includes portions of every address Reagan gave about God, morality, and religion. If you have fond memories of this great President, you'll want to own a copy of this book.

Read this when I was a teen and I wonder if there was something new after all these years. But didn't find other good options. When I reread it over the summer with my 12 year old son, I found the book and message is still relevant! A great book to discuss with your preteen or teen kid.

Preparing for Adolescence

What parent is prepared for the roller coaster ride of adolescence when their first child starts "growing up"? I thought I wouldn't have to think about it until my child was 13! Ha! The moodiness has already started -- at 10!

I enjoyed this book by Dr. Dobson, a well known & trusted author. The book helps the parent see this phase from the child's perspective and is written in a style the child can relate to. It assists them in trying to make sense of it all. It offers the child a preview of what to expect as radical physical and emotional changes begin and suggestions of how to handle them with practical common sense and their faith. The section addressing the "facts of life" is respectful, frank and thorough, but only offers age appropriate "details". It is appropriate enough for a 10 year old.

The book cover-to-cover may not keep the attention of a 10-12 year old who is accustomed to reading "action" type books, but if they are searching for answers, it's all there. Whether you buy the book for guidance as a parent, for your child to read, or as a tool to open up discussion on these topics, it is a worthwhile purchase.

I believe every women, no matter her creed or background would BENEFIT TREMENDOUSLY from this read.....Most times we don't spend time in self reflection in order to gage if we are actually in the (PLACE, POSITION and TIMING) of GOD.....I STRONGLY SUGGEST THIS READ

About the Author
Dr. Neil T. Anderson is founder and president emeritus of Freedom in Christ Ministries. He has 20 years of pastoral and teaching experience and was formerly Chairman of the Practical Theology Department at Talbot School of Theology. Neil has authored over twenty best-selling books on Christ-centered living including Victory Over the Darkness, The Bondage Breaker and Finding Hope Again. Michael Jacobson, D.O. is a board-certified osteopathic family physician who also holds an undergraduate degree in biblical studies. Following service in the military as a flight surgeon, Dr. Jacobson entered private practice and soon recognized the growing void of Church influence in health care. In 1995, he accepted a call to serve as an assistant pastor and founded Provident Medical Institute, an educational ministry dedicated to assisting Church leadership in effectively addressing health-care issues. Excellent Resource

I was looking for Scriptural guidelines to help my family in choosing and using alternative medicines. I was especially concerned of the spiritual implications from using various alternative treatments, such as magnetic healing, reiki, accupuncture and applied kinesiology. (Spiritual implications came to be a concern after a number of disturbing personal experiences and reading several books - including "The Bondage Breaker" also by Anderson.) The Biblical Guide gave me the answers I was looking for and much more! It is well written, well-researched well-documented. It presents a 5 sided grid thru which an individual can investigate any medical treatment or therapy. I especially appreciate the fact that science is only one of the 5 and not the focal point. As Anderson and Jacobson point out - Science is not always right, Science is growing in it's understanding, and Science cannot become our 'god'. I also appreciate that while the author gave their concerns, they ultimately leave the decision to the reader saying that while a treatment is appropriate for one person, it might not be for the next person. Another thing I found suprising and refreshing was their inclusion of allopathic medicine. While they tend to say allopathy is one of the better options available, they gave several criticisms and warnings for using allopathy. Greatly appreciated from my perspective!

I also bought Alternative Medicine by Walt Larimore M.D., Donal O'Mathuna at the same time as The Biblical Guide. I will be returning Alternative Medicine after a quick overview told me it was rather biased towards Allopathy and science and did not contain the answers I was looking for!

The Biblical Guide was excellent! I highly recommend it and have already shared it with several friends and my Chiropractor who is also Christian!

Very, very helpful.

I highly recommend this book. Dr. Anderson and Dr. Jacobson have done their research. It is easy to read and understand, and very thorough. I have referred to it several times over the past 7 years. Since this information is so vital, I'm surprised they haven't come out with more books. But I'm very glad to have this one!

Nice, David. "Public Budgeting." Wadsworth Group. 2002.

David Nice is a professor of political science at Washington State University. "Public Budgeting" is a comprehensive book written to provide an understanding of the basic but essential aspects of government budget and policies as it relates to government budget management. I love this book because it is well-written, clear and concise. If I had to rename this book, it would be named "Public Budgeting for Dummies." As stated in the introduction paragraph of the first chapter "This book is an effort to make budgeting a little less baffling and mysterious" (p.2), it is a great educational tool for all colleges and universities.

This book focuses on the government's budget, process and analysis on the national level while including coverage on the state and local level. "Public Budgeting" begins with discussing the history and term "public budgeting" and its theories and strategies. The book breaks down details of each budget cycle with detailed attention on budget preparation. After reading this book, you will be ready to jump into any role of the budget process. "Chapter 4 through 8 will examine the individual phases in the process in more details." The book concludes with the last few chapters integrating public budgeting with economics as it relates to present and past economy while striving for future budget reform. There is never a dull moment, in fact, this book kept my attention from beginning to end and I was actually excited to read the whole book!

This book is written in laymen's terms and takes a complex subject as public budgeting and makes it easy to comprehend. I advise any student pursuing a degree in Public Administration, Finance and Political Science to read this book and make it a part of your library.

Public Budgeting made easy

The textbook titled "Public Budgeting" was written by the author David Nice and published by Wadsworth Group Publishing. The purpose of the book is to combine the focus of budget literature and public administration in a simplistic format for a wide range audience. One does not have to have a career in budgeting or finance to understand the concepts of the book. It is presented in a clear and concise format. The text is divided into 11 chapters. The topics of the text range from a brief introduction, overview of the various phases in the budget process, anayltical techniques, the adoption and implementation phases, and the complex relationships between the economy and public budgeting. "Public Budgeting" is an appropirate text for all levels especially for those being introduced to budgeting concepts.

I have read several budgeting and accounting texts and this is one of the few books that I have read in which I did not get overwhelmed or bored. The only 2 recommendations I would make is to include a glossary at the end of the book and to have a chapter summary and review questions at the end of each chapter. Including a glossary will be beneficial to those new to the budgeting field so they can have a quick reference point rather than flipping through the text. A chapter summary and review questions will reinforce the information discussed in the chpater and aid the student in studying. Despite the areas of improvement, I would still highly recommend this text for students.

Amazingly Nice

Public Budgeting by David Nice (Wadsworth, Thompson Learning:2002) is extremely informative. I was introduced to this text as a student at Southeastern University (Washington, DC). What I like most about this text is that it is amazingly thorough and unlike many of the textbooks I have come across as a student, contains abundant quality information in a textbook that is not burdensome to carry. Nice provides information about budgeting in a concise,clear manner. This text is filled with factual, objective accounts of the budget process.

In Public Budgeting, David Nice explores the stages of Public Budgeting from Budget Preparation to Budget Adoption and Budget Execution. The book even gives readers an inside look into the budget process by exploring subjects such as "how the economy affects government budgets", "public budgeting's effects on the economy", "intergovernmental aspects of public budgeting", and budget strategies. The budget strategies segment of the text was the most enjoyable to me because, as an aspiring public administrator - having read this text makes me feel more prepared to make informed decisions relating to public budgets in the career I am pursuing.

Overall, I couldn't suggest a better book to students of public budgeting. It really, really touches on all areas of budgeting and manages to be interesting, entertaining, and informative at once.

Un libro que pone el foco en el verdadero centro de la Biblia

Para gran beneficio nuestro, los últimos años han visto una proliferación de libros que intentan describir cómo el Antiguo Testamento hace referencias a Cristo, y en última instancia, se centra en Él (Lucas 24:44). No muchos están en español —por ahora—, pero esta es una feliz excepción.

«Historias bíblicas de Jesús para niños» es un libro que, de principio a fin, muestra con ejemplos que la Escritura no es una colección de historias aisladas sino un relato único centrado en una figura que le da sentido a todo.

Esa es la razón por la cual el título secundario del volumen es «Cada historia susurra su nombre». El libro está constituido por una selección de historias bíblicas, pero el denominador común de ellas (incluidas las del Antiguo Testamento) es que ponen en evidencia cómo la Escritura dibuja poco a poco las características de Cristo y su ministerio.

Ya hubiera querido yo tener este libro cuando niño. Hace poco compré la versión monolingüe pero, por lo que veo, se trata del mismo texto. Esperemos que la editorial introduzca las mejoras correspondientes en el futuro, pero, incluso si no lo hicieran, ¡no dejen de comprar el libro!

Let me get this straight

So I ordered the English version of this a couple of years ago, it is nice, beautiful, touching, and a decent size book. I went online to order this Spanish versio as a gift and I got a tiny little book. It is essentially the same thing but the size of the book is small... Really small. Disappointed!
