En este libro los autores no intentan profundizar ni un poco en el libro de Daniel, sino tomar fuera de contexto el primer capítulo. Daniel dejó de comer la comida de Nabucodonosor por obediencia a Dios, no por mejorar o conservar su salud. El pueblo judío no conocía las ventajas de no comer ciertos alimentos, ni la industria alimenticia estaba en la situación de ahora, por lo cual, no comer esa comida (que probablemente había sido ofrecida a ídolos paganos), era simplemente seguir la ley judía que les restringía de ciertos alimentos, en sí, odebedecer y confiar en que Dios había dado ciertas indicaciones, y finalmente debían obedecer, fueran a donde fueran. En realidad, el libro de Daniel habla de la soberanía de Dios, y el primer capítulo de como Daniel no se conformó a la nueva cultura que lo rodeaba, sino que permaneció fiel para Dios, a pesar de lo difícil de la situación. ¿Realmente estamos siendo apartados para Dios en medio de nuestra cultura a pesar de presiones, o tendemos a ver bien lo que a Dios no le agrada porque todo el mundo lo hace? ¿Cuándo es difícil olvidar que estamos en "Babilonia" pero no somos de "Babilonia"? Estas preguntas son las que deberíamos hacernos al leer el primer capítulo del libro de Daniel. Tomar un párrafo o versículo de la Biblia fuera de contexto nos quita la riqueza del mensaje de Dios, y ponemos nuestra propia agenda y lamentablemente es lo que han hecho los autores de este libro, quitando el mensaje de Dios para sustituirlo por consejos de salud.

I RECEIVED MY BOOKS AND MORE THEN HALF OF MY BOOKS WERE DEFECTED NOT AT ALL HAPPY. BUT I NEED THEM SO I HAD TO WORK WITH WHAT I HAD :( other than that the inside was what mattered and this is an awesome book.

Es un libro basado en el programa creado por un pastor cristiano y 3 médicos de diferentes creencias reliigiosas (uno cristiano, uno judío, uno musulmán), y un excelente coach en fitness.
Bien escrito, fácil de entender. Lo bueno del programa es que funciona!!! Quizás a algunos les moleste la base bíblica, a mí me pareció extraordinaria e inspiradora!.
No tienes nada que perdery si mucho que ganar, así que mi sugerencia es CÓMPRALO Y LEÉLO!

This is an Outstanding Book

This is an outstanding book for anyone interested in room acoustics. My motivation as an Audiophile for purchasing this book was to answer the basic question: "Should my next audio investment be in room acoustic treatments, and if so what are the considerations involved?" This book methodically breaks down every aspect of the behavior of sound, and how that behavior affects and is percieved by the listener. Reverberation, reflection, dispersion, diffraction, absorption, spectral analyses, modal analyses, room topology, etc., etc... It's all there. An absolute must have for any Audiophile.

Acoustics. That is what this book is about. Mr. Everest is celebrated by people who know acoustics. You may have to read it more then once, let's face it, you will HAVE to read it more than once. In the time it takes you to completely mess a recording room up acoustically, you could read this book twice and get the room right.

So buy it, read it twice and get the sound you have been thinking was only available to the smart guys.

this book is an excellent overview and introspection into the world of usable acoustics. it tends to focus on the applicable, everyday world of acoustics instead of the completely theoretical--which was a huge help in my Church production job.
i highly recommend it as a reference text and background book to anyone in music production.

A much needed corrective to rampant individualism

Christianity in North America and Europe tends to buy into the Enlightenment ethos of "enlightened self-interest" and "rational individualism." The individual as free agent is the starting point for thinking about society, and this of course reduces community to little more than a collection of individuals who come together out of self-interest. A Christianity saturated with this way of thinking about the relation between persons and society tends to focus too much on individual salvation and individual sin and too little on the Kingdom of God as communitarian ideal, collective salvation, and corporate sin.
The underlying principle of Archbishop Tutu's Christian ethics is the African notion of "ubuntu." Ubuntu is a difficult word to translate, but it connotes community, with the understanding that it's impossible to isolate persons from community, that there's an organic relationship between all people such that when we see another, we should recognize (an important word for Tutu) ourselves and the God in whose image all people are made. Interdependence and reciprocity, not independence and self-sufficiency, are the keys here. As Tutu magnificently says, "A self-sufficient human being is subhuman. I have gifts that you do not have, so consequently, I am unique--you have gifts that I do not have, so you are unique. God has made us so that we will need each other. We are made for a delicate network of interdependence." (p. 35)
Michael Battle, an African-American theologian who lived and worked for a while in South Africa, has written a comprehensive and lucid account of Tutu's understanding of ubuntu. He carefully explores its ethical, theological, and spiritual implications for Tutu and, by association, for contemporary Christianity. Battle is generous in his quotes from Tutu, but he also provides insightful commentary on Tutu's words. Strongly advised for anyone wishing to explore Christian social ethics. I recommend it be read along with Bishop Tutu's *No Future Without Forgiveness.*

The philosophy of life

I'd recently heard of the concept of "Ubuntu" and being a healer and mom it resonated with me so much that I thought I'd like to read about it. The idea that what you do for yourself is not as fulfilling as the sharing of the collective hits home for me. In our house we dedicate ourselves to loving, sharing, overcoming the natural tendencies of selfishness to find true joy.

In my life I share myself with my children, husband, family, friends. When they do well I am happy for them. It was shocking to me the way my husband's sister (ostensibly a progressive) took her brothers inheritance as her own (and now is grossly obese, and probably won't live as long as she could-but that's Cnorher story). Following the philosophy of Ubuntu, she would have shared generously to her brother and his children-been equitable and even over generous to the one she loved. Perhaps then she would be fit, healthy and most importantly, have more live of her brother, his wife, and their children. Because family and blood are a deep connection-almost karmic and until that is healed and made right, there is no peace nor health.

I love Ubuntu! I will strive to incorporate this idea and philosophy into my life every day.

Tutu's Reconciliation Theology

The author, a prominent Episcopalian African-American theologian,was in residence with and understudied Desmond Tutu during the years that ended apartheid in South Africa and brought in Nelson Mandela as President. He was, therefore, in a unique position to learn the underlying philosophy and theology that led to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of South Africa, a major reason for the peaceful transition to full democracy and the avoidance of the blood bath that many had expected.
