No music inside!

It is important for customers to know that this large print edition contains WORDS ONLY of the hymns. There is not one musical note! I am in the process of returning this item to Amazon. My intention had been to give this to a family member who likes to play hymns on the piano but is getting up in years and can no longer see the music very well, even with glasses. I was surprised to find that this item consists of a large box of sheets of everything in the pew version of the hymnal (excluding the music) and a notebook. Before a church service, a person with good eye-sight could remove the appropriate sheets from the box and put them into the notebook in the correct order for the sight-challenged person to use during the church service, so this might work okay for somebody who doesn't read music and therefore wouldn't miss it. I think it would be better to use a photocopy machine or scanner and blow up each musical page in the real hymnal to 9 by 11 inches. I hope the publisher of this so-called hymnal will do that in the future.

Deserving of high praise as a collection of hymns of the United Church of Christ. Gender-sensitive and ethnic-sensitive throughout. Contains valuable ORDERS OF WORSHIP, HYMNS of Praise, for the Christian Year, for the Faith and Order of the Church, for the Life and Order of the Church, PSALMS and CANTICLES, SERVICE MUSIC, WORSHIP RESOURCES, and valuable index helps of Author, Composer, and Source, Metrical Index, Tune Index, Scriptural Index, Lectionary Index, Topical Index, First Line Index, Descant Index. As a member of the UCC, I am grateful to have my own copy of this excellent hymnal available as a valuable resource at any time during the week.

Low quality printing of an excellent hymnal

Although this is the same edition as advertised, it is printed on much lower quality paper than the previous ones I ordered from Amazon several years ago. The translucent paper makes the hymns harder to read as the hymn on the opposite side of the page shows through. The hymnals in this new printing are significantly thinner and lighter than the originals, though all of the hymns etc. are included.
For those not familiar with the content, the collection of hymns is excellent. Some of the lyrics have been changed a bit too much in order to make all of the language inclusive and gender neutral wherever possible.
